This Magic Moment

Reunion 2009

Chapter 8

The first celebration took place on October 16, 2009 in the Florence Banquet room from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. A buffet was served with sandwich fixings and  munchies. Drinks were served at the bar. Dress was casual on this evening, and many Warriors wear their Yamato t-shirts & hats.  This is the night that the excitement “really” begins, with everyone just getting to know each other better. The video above reveals all of the smiling faces. I tried to get everyone in the video, however if I missed anyone, please let me know at: [email protected]   I also tried to get everyone's name correct, so I welcome all corrections.

When April Hardt '64, walked into the room wearing her cheerleading uniform…everyone was amazed! And this is after having....3 daughters and 5 grandchildren! I met April for the first time, and found her an absolute delight. Bob Mutu ’66 posed with April wearing the Yamato letter jacket…which I think he bought it through e-bay. Bob is always a bundle of fun, and I love dancing with him!

Roberto Ontiveros '68, &Jim Ontiveros '69 provided entertainment on this evening singing & playing their guitar’s, with Debra Inge '71 singing along. Later on Haremi Watts '72 joined the group.

Before attending my Yamato Reunions, I always print out a sheet with the name of each person attending and their high school photo. Warriors always ask to borrow my sheet. In the video, you will see how cute Christopher Pinkava '73, and his son, Nicolas look combing through the pages of my print-out.  This happens at every reunion!

Following the Buffet, many Warriors gathered on the patio area of the hotel until late into the evening, not wanting to end this magic moment….
