Cloud Croft is a hidden gem in the Sacramento Mountains east of Alamogordo.
It is reminiscent of an old western town.
On our way east we drove through Artesia. A bombing oil town, with huge bronze statues telling stories of how the west was built and the hardships of those who built it.
The pump field go on for miles and miles, and they smell. We drove through clouds of methane gas. I was afraid to light a match or snap a picture. The sparks might light the skies on fire. ;o. I'm sure it wouldn't but ya have to wonder where does it all go?
