The Party......is Over

Earlier in the day, I was in the shower, when I heard Dave call out my name.   I couldn’t help asking myself, “Why do men always bother you when you are in the shower???”  Nevertheless, I opened the shower curtain, to find Dave holding up $800.00 in his hands.  When I got out of the shower he said, “You better keep some of this money?”  I answered, “I am in a hurry and I don’t want to be responsible for all that cash!”  Words I would later regret!  On our way home from the reunion I asked Dave, “How much of that $800.00 do you have left?  The look on Dave’s face.....said it all!

The days went so fast, and before we knew it......we were getting all dressed up for the last celebration.  We all danced ourselves crazy throughout the evening....losing all track of time. Then...the lights dimmed, and a slow song started playing.....it was the last dance!  As always, my Dave took my hand and guided me to the dance floor.  As he pulled me close placing his cheek next to mine....that old feeling...that same old feeling from long ago....swept throughout my body.  Feeling emotional, I thought about at how much I still love him, and I told myself to savor this very moment.  And as always, I silently wished these moments together would never end.....

Sadly, Warriors said their last good-byes (once again) saying “See you in two years!”  But....of course we all knew that some of us would not return.....for one reason or another.  We also knew that....every two years we lose more Warriors....which is the downside of reunions.   When I said good bye to Norman Allbright 1966/CA, he looked at me sweetly and suddenly handed me one of the raffle gifts he won...a piece of gold & white Oriental cloth.

Back in my room were other mementos from this reunion.  The beautiful aqua Oriental jewelry box....a gift from Cheryl/Larry Skipton Runyon 1964/WA.  The unique wine glass holder that I could wear around my neck....a gift from Ron Childers 1962/AZ.  Then of course...our Yamato name tags, a goodie bag filled with a Yamato bottle holder, and a Yamato backpack.  On each place setting on our dinner tables were Oriental shadow boxes and chopsticks....which we could keep.

As I slowly made my way through the room to leave, I snapped photos of those still lingering in the party room.  Dave & I went to our room and I took off my makeup.....the party was over.....

The party's over

It's time to call it a day

They've burst your pretty balloon

And taken the moon away

It's time to wind up the masquerade

Just make your mind up the piper must be paid

The party's over

The candles flicker and dim

You danced and dreamed through the night

It seemed to be right just being with him

Now you must wake up, all dreams must end

Take off your makeup, the party's over

It's all over, my friend
