BREWER COUNCIL MEETS IN A 23 MINUTES SESSION ACCOMPLISHES MUCH · 11/17/2015

Well tonight the Brewer City Council met in a 23-minute setting, accomplishing quite a few things, although the clock in the chamber is off by several minutes, City manager Steve Bost is going to climb up there this morning to make it right.

This was the last meeting whereby Mayor Matt Vachon has performed the duties of conducting the meetings, doing a good job too for a fairly new comer. His mom Michelle finally could make the meeting to see him end it all...Matt was reelected last week for another three-year term, along with Jerry Goss.

Councilor's recognized Keith A. Bradford for his 35 years of dedicated service to the City of Brewer, working as a heavy-duty operator in our Public Works Department. Department Dave Cote praised Keith as one guy, that will always go above and beyond the call of duty when asked for volumteers. Councilor Joe Ferris did the presentation.

Furthermore, recognized tonight was John P. Zebiak for Earning the Rank of Eagle Scout. John is a member of Boy Scout Troop 1; he completed all the requirements to earn the rank of Eagle Scout, the Boy Scouts of America's highest award. He was officially awarded the honor on October 19, 2015. The council resolve states: Whereas, as part of the required Service Project for the Eagle Scout Award, John did ground's maintenance and beautification projects at the Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He also provided the new sitting area with a wooden bench...Councilor Jerry Goss did the honors.

At the annual organizational meeting tonight at Jeff's Catering, we will see a new Mayor selected in Councilor Beverly Uhlenhake. Bev. was elected to the council in 2013.

Regular attendee at Council and School Committee meetings was Randy Tompkins and his wife Laurie. Randy made a couple of comments, one of which praised the police department. In addition, he praised the Public Works Dept., for sidewalks being well taken care of as he motorized the city in his wheelchair.
