We moved from Virginia, where Lane and I lived for about 25 years, to Texas, in late '04. We moved for employment and to live near my friend, Deb, whom I've known for about 25 years. In the year before we moved, Lane's dad died from lung cancer after a lengthy illness. Shortly after his dad's death, Lane was laid off from his job in Information Technology. It was a time that tested our faith and sanity.

Well, we are here, in Texas, and alive to tell about it! For me, it is like returning to my roots. I have always felt a connection to Texas. My grandmother was born here, and my great grandmother is buried here.

Thanks to Carla Noffsinger, for encouraging me to write again and to become a member of the OS Family. Through the information Carla posted on OurStory about her family genealogy, we discovered that we are cousins! Her great-grandmother and my great-great grandfather were sister and brother! We knew each other for months before we learned this. Imagine that! Amazing!
