Reflections of a Samoan Princess

by Eloise Ali'i Tasi Taesali (Ellie)

My name is Eloise Ali'i Tasi Taesali. Eloise is a compromise for Louise, the title to a popular song in the 40's. My middle name is Samoan and roughly translated means Princess of the Island. Tasi meaning one/first or unique and unprecedented. Ali'i is a title that follows your name to show you have standing in your community, it commands great respect.

I was born in April of 1949. The year is 2009, I am now sixty years old. I have lived an interesting life complete with all the expected trials and tribulations. I also believe that my life has been uniquely atypical.
